Hear national and international experts discuss evidence-based strategies to de-implement common and routine practices that do not add value to patient care. Health care professionals are often concerned about having conversations with patients regarding stopping unnecessary medications. It can be challenging to remove or reduce medications patients believe are helpful, even if the evidence shows that they are harmful.  Most research about patient expectations on reducing unnecessary medication (or deprescribing) is based on focus groups which, pose hypothetical questions and not drawn from patients who actually have lived experience with de-prescribing.

Join us September 23 at 12 p.m. ET for the return of De/Implement, a monthly webinar series about the application of implementation science to reduce unnecessary tests and treatments in health care.  Dr. Christian Helfrich, Research Associate Professor at the University of Washington School of Public Health, will share findings from a newly published study on patient experiences with reducing unnecessary inhaled corticosteroid medications for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
